You are right on that, he has some funny arse quotes, but all in all, he is an arsewhole.
I remember Mack having a kid that was a senior and had never played a game. I asked him, are you going to let him start just one game, especially him being a senior? Mack's response: He's an idiot, he's a [censored] idiot! The kid never started but he caught behind the plate when the pitcher warmed up. Love him or hate him, he's got better quotes than Dubya that's for sure.

He would probably tell you, "Son, I'm not here to be loved, I'm here to win..." or something like that...
I also remember him giving advice to new coaches too. They had a new coach at Kelly and the guy asked the Shupester for some coaching advice. Bentley had told the new guy that when they just wouldn't do anything in practice, he ran 'em off...sent them home. Shupe found out and said, no son, no, no...if they don't do what you do you practice 'em til they do it right as long as it takes...and if their mommy or daddy complains tell 'em, screw you...when they step on the field, their mine. He didn't care and still doesn't.
Many players loved him, Many players hated him.
Players that played all four years of high school for him could write a book of shupeism's.
The funniest thing I remember was when he made a certain thirdbaseman (JB) put on the catchers equipment to take ground balls. This player (JB) was not staying down on the ball and SHUPE yells "come on son, it's simple just act like your a cow squatting down to take a [censored]." He still doesn't get it right so SHUPE yells to him "GD it you are a P***Y aren't you, go get the gear on you P***Y." Of course everyone else in the infield and around that day has to put their glove up over their face to hide the laughter.
I have many many more SHUPEISMS if you want more just ask.

How about when Shupe said, "Son, you don't know s*!t from Shionee!" Don't know what in the world Shionee was, but it sure was funny!

There was one time that shupe fouled up though. We were on our way to APPY to play a game, Well we get to the traffic light at the norton rd. and US 23 intersection across from the kmart shopping center. Shupe figures out he left an important scouting report paper in his office. He is in a major panic about the paper. The tells the bus driver to open the door. He gets off the bus and stops traffic. He walks to his father in law's car behind the bus and says you have to take me back to the field. He me makes his father in law do a uturn right their in the middle of the road. Tells the bus driver to go to wheatley's market and wait on him to get back on the bus. So in the mean time all of us players and assistant coaches are waiting for the shupester to get back from his adventure. He was always saying to us "how d**n dumb can you be." So we got him back when he gets to the bus and we see his head rise above the seat we all yell "how d**n dumb can you be shupe." After that he kinda mutters to himself and yells "shut the h**l up." We get to appy and win big cant remember the score. On the way back to the field he says "you guys will pay for that remark each of you have 20 poles before you leave to go home."
Just another classic episode in the life of Mack Shupe.

He had a pitcher in 96 I think, they were playing Pound and he was gettin pelted pretty good. He gave up a couple hits and a HR's and then walked a couple people, Shupe calls timeout and before he reaches the baseline from the dugout he yells" You not have the balls to throw a strike? They cant do anything worse than what they have"
From my cousin who played ball for Shupe in Wise. He was picked off stealing second and when he gets back to the dugout Shupe grabs him and says "son, do you see that fence back there? If you try stealing 2nd again keep running, jump that fence, and don't ever F#&$^ng come back". I love that story.
You're just mad cause the voices don't talk to you.
